Dolphins 2012 Outlook
The Miami Dolphins ended the 2011-2012 season looking up as they knocked the Jets out of playoff contention. Many questions are to be answered in the offseason. Coach, QB, and who’s going to fill the void left by future Hall Of Fame DE/LB Jason Taylor?
Todd Bowles did a solid job coming in going 2-1. (Darn! Should’ve been 3-0!) However, I still think Ross is going to pick up another coach, most likely an experienced one. The team has taken on a whole new identity this second half of the season which will hopefully move onto next season. This Miami team could’ve easily been talking playoffs at this point, however, just being put in positions to win isn’t enough, the team needs to execute. The thing that irked me the most was that whenever the defense would be playing well, the offense would be stagnant, vice versa. This must be addressed and hopefully we get a disciplined coach who can guide these players beyond mediocre.
Now the QB issue is quite touchy. Matt Moore has been effective and has shown promise, but I feel it necessary to draft a QB high. There is also a lot of speculation of Peyton Manning coming over to the Finz if the Colts draft Luck. I believe it would be ideal to draft a quarterback early, and have him under the tutelage of Peyton Manning. It’s a win, win. You get a great QB for a couple of years, and following him is a trained ready to go starter. I can guarantee this will be continuously debated over the next few months.
When it comes to Jason Taylor, I believe Koa Misi is ready to fill in his shoes. He has grown as a player and hopefully can fulfill the role well with Dansby and Burnett.
